Kumano Kodo | Wakayama Prefecture
Leading to Hongu Shrine, a famous power spot for healing and purification, Kumano Kodo is the winding road through the mountains taken by believers on their pilgrimage to the shrine. In days gone by, pilgrims were so numerous, they were compared to a column of ants in local yore. Kumano Kodo is now a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
